Prodigy

June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—-June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengence, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

I can't describe how incredibly good this book is! I can't think of a better way of saying my emotions and love towards it. Speechless.

The action that has put me on edge of my seat. I could see the scenarios come alive out of the book that I thought I was in a whole new different world. Incredible feeling ever! I was very much absorbed all the way till the end! It has got its steady pace and certainly not the kind of draggy, mind-numbing sequel - I like it so much! Always leading to nonstop actions that makes me want to move around and go for a run outside though I don't like running really. Still, I'm inspired by Day to go for a good run anytime now.

~Excerpt~

Cool night air calmed me. My car came into view, and I halted, stunned. “Tara,” I breathed out her name. “Where’s Raymond?” I forced the rancid name past my lips.

“Wasted. I left him with the football team.” She rested her hip against my car, pulled the sleeves of her jacket over her hands. “Can you give me a ride home?”

“You never have to ask.” I opened the door for her, my heart pounding. “Did you see Denny and Alyssa?”

“They’ll hitch a ride with Kev.”

“Cool.”

“What happened?”

Caution schooled my newfound excitement and I loped to the driver’s side. I told her what went down. “Dalton’s already made up his mind no matter what evidence they find.” I hightailed it out of the parking lot, cut my speed below limit, extending our drive time.

“Not much you can do tonight.” Tara hugged her jacket tight.

“I know.” I cranked up the heater. “Thanks for being here.”

Ten minutes later, the Camaro crawled onto my driveway. I shut off the engine. “Sorry this turned out to be a screwy night for your first dance.”

“You warned me about Raymond.” She smiled, her rosy lips enticing me. “Thank you.”

I couldn’t stop staring at the opening of her blouse, the creamy upper swell of her breasts. “I wanted to take you to the dance.” I wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans.

“There’ll be other times, right?” she said softly, shyly, too freaking cute.

Endorphins sprang to life. “Definitely.” Side by side, we walked up to her porch. Landscape lights radiated yellow beams across the walkway and newly filled planters of funky tall grasses and late-blooming flowers. “Tell Denny, case he forgets, we’re not meeting tomorrow.”

“Sure. Alyssa told me you’re all going on a yacht trip in the Bay, an annual thing your father’s law firm does. Sounds fun.”

“Doubt it. But my parents insist we go as a family,” I mocked with no real conviction. “I’ll be hard pressed to keep my mind off tonight.” I slanted toward her. “Or off you,” I whispered in her ear, inhaling her tropical fruit shampoo into my senses, willing it to drown out the lousy night.

The length of her quaked against me. “Try. They have no proof.”

“I feel guilty. And I don’t even know what was taken.” My lips toured her silky neck, along her jaw line toward her mouth.

“Dalton made you feel that way.” Tara made a clicking sound in her throat. “I . . . believe you.”

I touched my lips to hers, firm, soft, tasting spearmint. “Thanks,” I said against her lips. Drawing closer, I kissed her gently. Her mouth parted slightly, her tongue darted out then hid from me as if afraid. A hot stream of desire fed my blood, and I was useless to cut it short. Easing away before I turned her off, I released her hand.

Dazed, I strolled home. Another seed of life sprouted in my barren soul, replicating as fast as those dragsters had snuffed out my light. For the first time since the Summer of Delirium, I felt like I might be okay one day. For real.

Here's how I'll start this review:

It's perfectly fine whether you go to a library without books in mind that you'll sure to borrow—all it takes is to just pick up a random book from the shelf and start reading. I randomly picked this book up from the library shelf.

"Of all the things this burg lacks, dateable girls would have to be at the top of my list."

That's what I did with this beautiful, well-paced book. It wasn't in my to-read list at all. Sure now it is in mine! And should you read it and add it to yours as well! I was kind of upset that the book wasn't even touched or at least flipped through. I found it just sitting on the shelf, silence library - no one bothers to check out... what possibly the magic it holds.

Cover Reveal: Shark Out of Water (Grab Your Pole #3) by Jenn Cooksey

Shark Out of Water (Grab Your Pole #3) by Jenn Cooksey
Expected Pub: Summer 2013
With the Amazon Bestseller Shark Bait, the first novel in the Grab Your Pole series, debut author Jenn Cooksey delivered a fun, snarky, and realistic beginning to a larger story that has found its way into the hearts of readers everywhere.

Thus, many were unprepared for what was coming in the second installment of the GYP series, The Other Fish in the Sea, when Cooksey took us on a runaway roller coaster ride of emotion and solidly landed hit after hit, including a brutal sucker punch that left readers around the globe reeling.

In Shark Out of Water, the highly anticipated third installment in this humorous yet honest and real coming of age story, we delve even further into the lives of the GYP gang and many questions are sure to be answered, however, are you really ready for what lies ahead in the continuation of their adventure? Well, grab your pole and let’s find out.

Previous covers in the Grab Your Pole series:

Shark Bait (Grab Your Pole #1) by Jenn Cooksey - ONLY $0.99!!

Previously homeschooled Camie Ramsey is being shoved into the shark-infested waters of public high school, where even helium filled, penguin bespeckled arm floaties likely won’t help keep her inexperienced, fifteen-year old head above water in that rip current of hormones and emotions.

Camie’s worldly wisdom might be severely lacking (i.e., the closest she’s come to being kissed was sitting too close to the TV whilst Jake Ryan leaned in to give Samantha that fateful 16th birthday kiss), but she does understand her only hope for survival is if she’s thrown some kind of “social” life preserver before she sinks like a freaking rock. However, what will her fate be when she endeavors to flag down the only lifeguard on duty, the enormously popular and ridiculously beautiful Tristan Daniels? The most sought after and virtually most unattainable guy in school who not only makes Camie’s heart flatline on a recurring basis, he’s also the one guy who seemingly doesn’t know she exists.

Feeling like an inept piece of chum that could ultimately be swallowed by Jaws, can Camie get Tristan to rescue her from floundering in the treacherous deep, or is she destined to be Shark Bait?

Author's Note: While the tales themselves are fictional, some of the events and characters are very loosely based in reality and on my experiences—but don’t worry, the names of the characters, most of their unfortunate fashion sense and/or questionable taste in music has been changed to protect the not-so innocent.

Due to language and some adult content, this book may not be suitable for readers under the age of 16.

The Other Fish in the Sea (Grab Your Pole #2) by Jenn Cooksey

In Shark Bait, readers everywhere met and fell in love with the new girl, Camie Ramsey, and swooned over her sure to be future husband, Tristan Daniels. Now, in The Other Fish in the Sea, the long awaited second installment of the Grab Your Pole series by Jenn Cooksey, Camie and Tristan are back, but so are their friends!

So, find a breathing apparatus and shimmy into your scuba gear, because it's finally time to dive deeper into the lives of the GYP gang, but be warned, it's a big world out there and an even bigger ocean where danger might be lurking around the next corner and realistically, anything could happen.

Author Bio
Jenn Cooksey is a Southern California girl born and bred, however she’s no longer a resident of heaven on earth, but instead she currently resides in the 7th Ring of Hell with her husband, their three daughters, and a goodly number of pets. Aside from her husband, one cat, and three out of five fish, everyone living under the Cooksey’s roof is female. She’s sure her husband will not only be awarded sainthood when he kicks the bucket, but that Jesus will welcome him into heaven with a beer and a congratulatory high-five. Jenn is also of the belief that Bacon should be capitalized and that just being yourself is the best way to go. That is, unless you can be Batman. Always be Batman.

Excerpt

“Are you all right, honey?”

I opened my eyes. An attractive young woman with red hair and brilliant green eyes was looking at me. What I thought was salt water from the ocean must have been tears because my face was the only one nearby that was wet. I glanced at her concerned expression and smiled. “Yes, thank you. I’m fine.” I swiped away a tear with my finger. “Just…everything’s fine.”

She stepped closer and lowered her voice. “This cruise will change your life. Nothing will be the same when it’s over, but it will be worth it. You’ll see.” Her emerald eyes twinkled, and she nodded her head once.

I forced a laugh to be polite. “Thanks. Enjoy your cruise.”

What a weirdo. What did that even mean? How could a cruise change my life? I moved from my spot to avoid more weirdness from her and found a less populated area at the back of the ship. New York and New Jersey disappeared behind us as we charged toward Bermuda and away from the mess my life had become.

A cloud covered the retreating sun, sending shivers through me. A white-haired lady dropped her purse and lots of change tumbled out. A penny hit my foot and landed on tails.

My cell phone buzzed. I pulled it from my pocket. I had thirteen messages and thirteen texts. How would Nisha survive the next five days without hearing from me? I took care of the messages and told her I’d call her when we got back to Jersey.

Even though I was not very superstitious, a bad feeling crawled into the pit of my stomach and took up residence.

I knew what I was leaving behind, but what was I floating toward?

Requiem

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has transformed. The nascent rebellion that was underway in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven. Pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels.

As Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain of the Wilds, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena and Hana's points of view. They live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

With lyrical writing, Lauren Oliver seamlessly interweaves the peril that Lena faces with the inner tumult she experiences after the reappearance of her first love, Alex, the boy she thought was dead. Sophisticated and wide-ranging, Requiem brings the Delirium trilogy to a thrilling conclusion.

My thoughts before heading to read Requiem.

The book cover steals my attention for a moment before I get on with reading it. To me, it shows there that finally we got the whole picture (face) that obscure half it then. I'm implying that in this final installment, many will be revealed to the readers, getting a clear insight of what to come and hopefully a conclusion that will go perfectly as it will sums up the trilogy. The red background that I think it represents passion, her most desires and dangers or perhaps the most difficult decision she may be facing is right all in the book. I just have to figure it out for myself and dive right in and read. I'm ready for this exciting journey and good ending!

My afterthoughts.

Hana's point of views was the one I enjoyed reading, really. Even I was surprised because I really liked Lena in Pandemonium and suddenly it's not her that I like.

He'd rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa – the one she has sworn to protect no matter what – and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?

It's a thick book, lots of scenes had occurred on Rose's journey to look for the man she loved. I took my time to read the book thoroughly, indulging myself in each moment reading Rose's perspective - I want every detail to absorb me away from reality and homework. Finally after reading it, it left me to deal with my current book hangover. Definitely a must read!

I haven't had the time to stop and ponder on what the title has got to do with the plot before starting reading it. I just dove right in. To be honest, I found the synopsis intriguing that's what made me want to read this book in the first place and of course, I didn't think I had read any books on faeries yet. Not that I know of.
