In a terrifying future world, four girls must depend on each other if they want to survive.
Louisa is nervous about being sent away to a boarding school — but she’s excited, too. And she has her best friend, Maddie, to keep her company. The girls have to pretend to be twin sisters, which Louisa thinks just adds to the adventure!
Country Manor School isn’t all excitement, though. Louisa isn’t sure how she feels about her new roommates: athletic but snobby Rosie and everything’s-a-conspiracy Evelyn. Even Maddie seems different away from home, quiet and worried all the time.
Still, Louisa loves CMS — the survival skills classes, the fresh air. She doesn’t even miss not having a TV, or the internet, or any contact with home. It’s for their own safety, after all.
Or is it?
Louisa and Maddie were sent to Country Manor School while the war between America and Alliance is taking place. They were sent there by their parents, knowing that both of the girls will be kept safe there. Louisa and Maddie met Evelyn, who investigates that things are weird around CMS. Louisa didn’t see it that way though. In fact, she loves staying there like it’s home.
CMS (girls’ school) teaches all girls survival skills, outdoor activities, etc.
I felt irritated at Louisa at the middle because she thinks that things around CMS is all that great. I know learning new things is totally cool but what I wasn’t cool about was that, she didn’t mind the people who are out in the war. She don’t really mind staying in CMS and have a great time. I think if Evelyn didn’t came along, I don’t think she’ll be able to go through the theories in her head like Evelyn did. Louisa will probably just keep thinking that, they are really there for their own “safety”. Don’t mind me, that’s just my opinion. All is great, though. She finally see the theory Evelyn was always predicting.
I won’t spill things out. You guys have to read the book! It’s really awesome! I can’t wait to read the next book the series!!!
P.S. These girls are really brave—beginning till the end. I really like that they have the courage to stand up for what is right.
